Airsoft is an activity that involves shooting plastic BBs at each other using replica firearms that resemble real firearms. Common accessories for Airsoft are:

  • Optics: Red dot sights, Holographic sights, and Scopes
  • Sight Protector: A sight protector will help prevent your new sight from getting destroyed!
  • Magazines: You can never have too many!
  • Batteries: There are low voltage, high voltage, and different current outputs to be used.
  • Silencers/Suppressors: In Airsoft these double as tracers and mock muzzle flashes too!
  • Flashlight: Wethers you’re playing CQB or Mil-Sim, you will need a flashlight at some point.
  • Slings: Carrying an Airsoft gun all day can get tiring; a sling can relieve you of this.

  • Tactical Gear: From plate carries, battle belts, knee pads, and more; there is always a piece of gear to be had.

In this article, we will discuss some of the most popular airsoft accessories that airsoft enthusiasts use.

What Are Airsoft Accessories

Airsoft accessories are items or gear that can enhance your airsoft game or improve your equipment. These accessories are designed to improve the functionality, accuracy, and performance of your airsoft gun and gear, or to enhance your overall airsoft experience.

Some examples of airsoft accessories include:

Optics

Optics are one of the most popular airsoft accessories. They can help improve your accuracy and make it easier to hit your targets. There are many different types of optics available, including red dot sights, holographic sights, and scopes.

Left to right: Red dot, Holographic sight, Scope

Red dot sights are great for close-range shooting, while scopes are better for long-range shooting.

Holographic/reflex sights are a combination of both, offering a wide field of view and quick target acquisition.

I love the look of the Holographic sight. Aiming through it also feels like a video game!

Scopes are zoomed-in optics that are great for snipers.

Sight Protector

Once you buy a sight you’ll immediately start to think, what happens if a BB hits it and breaks my new sight?

A sight protector refers to a device or accessory used to protect the optics or sights mounted on airsoft guns from damage during gameplay. It is designed to shield the fragile lenses or components of the sight from impacts, debris, and BB hits.

I use a generic sight protector on my gun; better safe than sorry!

A sight protector typically consists of a transparent or opaque material, such as polycarbonate or metal mesh, that covers the front of the sight while still allowing for a clear view through the sight. The protector is attached to the airsoft gun, either by screwing or clipping it onto the rail system or by fitting it directly onto the sight itself.

Magazines

Magazines are an essential accessory for any airsoft gun. They hold the BBs and feed them into the gun. There are many different types of magazines available, including high-capacity magazines and mid-capacity magazines.

High-capacity magazines can hold up to 500 BB pellets, while mid-capacity magazines hold between 75 and 200 BB pellets.

Having extra magazines can help you stay in the game longer and avoid having to reload as often.

Batteries

Many airsoft guns are electric-powered, which means they require a battery to operate. Having a good quality battery is essential to ensure your gun operates at its best. There are many different types of batteries available, including NiMH and LiPo batteries.

NiMH batteries are the most commonly used, while LiPo batteries offer a higher voltage and can provide more power. It’s important to choose the right battery for your airsoft gun to ensure it operates correctly.

Silencers/Suppressors

Silencers, also known as suppressors, are an accessory that can help reduce the noise generated by the airsoft gun. Silencers come in many different shapes and sizes and can be attached to the end of the barrel of the airsoft gun.

In Airsoft there are also tracers or mock muzzle flash attachments.

The EMG Strike Industries Bifrost is both a tracer unit and a mock flasher!

Tracer

A tracer refers to a device or ammunition that is used to enhance the visibility of BB projectiles during gameplay, particularly in low-light or night scenarios. Tracers work by incorporating a small light source, typically an LED (Light-Emitting Diode), into the airsoft gun or the magazine.

Each BB passing through the device or loaded into the magazine is momentarily illuminated by the built-in light source. This illumination creates a visible tracer effect, where the BB appears to glow or emit a streak of light as it travels through the air. The effect is similar to what you might see in movies when watching tracer rounds fired from real firearms.

Mock-Muzzle Flash

A mock muzzle flash in airsoft refers to a device or accessory that replicates the visual effect of a muzzle flash when firing a firearm. It is designed to enhance the realism of airsoft guns by simulating the flash that occurs at the muzzle when a real firearm is discharged.

A mock muzzle flash typically consists of a housing or attachment that fits onto the airsoft gun’s muzzle or flash hider. It incorporates LEDs or other lighting elements that create a bright burst of light when the gun is fired. This light mimics the appearance of a muzzle flash, adding an extra level of authenticity to the firing of the airsoft gun.

Flashlight

A flashlight that attaches to the end of your gun is almost essential for Airsoft. Many indoor fields will purposes have matches where all lights are turned off, forcing players to use flashlights to navigate through the course and find other players.

I use the Feyachi Tactical Flashlight 1200.. it’s great value for the price!

Flashlights can also be used tactically by utilizing the strobe feature to disorient players or temporarily blind them from seeing your movement.

Slings

Slings are an accessory that can help you carry your airsoft gun more comfortably. They attach to the gun and allow you to carry it over your shoulder or across your body. This makes it easier to move around during games and provides a more comfortable carrying experience.

There are many different types of slings available, including single-point slings and two-point slings. It’s important to choose the right sling for your airsoft gun to ensure it’s comfortable and secure.

Speedloader

a speedloader is a device used to quickly and efficiently load BBs (plastic pellets) into airsoft magazines. It is designed to save time and make the reloading process more convenient during gameplay.

A speedloader typically consists of a plastic or metal container with a nozzle or opening at the top and a plunger mechanism. To use a speedloader, you pour a quantity of BBs into the container and align the nozzle with the magazine’s BB feeding port. With the plunger depressed, you push down on it to load the BBs into the magazine.

The Innovations Odin is a luxury speedloader and, although it is expensive, you can refill your mags in seconds!

The advantage of a speedloader is that it allows for much faster reloading compared to manually loading BBs one by one.

This is a typical speedloader. While it’s not as fast as the odin, it is significantly faster than loading by hand

By simply pouring a batch of BBs into the speedloader and then aligning it with the magazine, you can rapidly load multiple BBs into the magazine at once. This can be especially beneficial during intense gameplay situations when quick reloading is necessary.

Tactical Gear

Tactical gear is an essential accessory for any airsoft enthusiast. It includes items such as vests, helmets, and gloves. Tactical gear can help improve your performance during games and keep you safe.

Vests and pouches can help you carry extra magazines and other accessories, while gloves can provide protection for your hands. It’s important to choose tactical gear that fits well and is comfortable, as you’ll be wearing it for extended periods during games.

Conclusion

Airsoft is a fun and exciting sport, and there are many accessories available to enhance the experience. Optics, magazines, batteries, silencers, slings, and tactical gear are just a few of the many accessories available to airsoft enthusiasts.

Choosing the right accessories for your airsoft gun can help improve your accuracy, performance, and overall experience. It’s important to do your research and choose quality accessories that are compatible with your airsoft gun.
